I've been sober now for six months. The hardest part of my journey was letting go of old friends and habits. Boredom can be a dangerous thing. Any suggestions on how to combat this?
I’m in the same boat Fabian…. I’ve been working out and I want to completely change my eating habit so that it turns into my new obsession… I figure if I’m going to stop drinking why not do a complete 180
Me too man. I started hitting the gym up in September. Even seeing a personal trainer. If I am going to change my life I might as well do it all.
I also started Ubering …it helps me do something else as well as makes some side cash
Find a hobby or an activity you enjoy doing... exercise is always healthy for mental and physical health but looking forward t something that excites or interests you is even better. Plus, you can make new friends who share the same interests along the way. Seems like a win win situation!
For me I make a list of goals big and small. When boredom sets in go to the list. Journaling also helps to separate all the thoughts in my head, and reflect on the day.
Ubering is a good distraction. I use to do it too. Just be careful on weekends. More than likely a lot of drunk passengers those nights.
I am adjusting. I haven't attended any AA meetings since I left my IOP. But I think I want to try it.
That sounds like a great idea. I've been hitting the gym up. Just that on weekends I like to rest. But I need to also get out of the house more often.
With the holidays coming up, they can be as bad as boardom, look for meetings near you, have someone to call if you start feeling triggered, basically keep your guard up. Hope you have a good one
Thanks man. I am definitely going to lookup meetings.
