Yeah, that irks me. You should tell them. Everyone doesn't drink.
That gets on my nerves.

I work at a garage and people are always bringing me beer. Sometimes they ask “what kind of beer do you drink?” And my response is always “ginger”. They’re usually confused at this point.

Maybe I need to tell them non-alcoholic.
I don't let it bother me. I thank them then regift it.
I do like ginger beer with crushed fresh mint and some fresh lemon juice. That's a virgin mint julep

I don't think it's smart to regift alcohol. After what I allowed it to do to me I will not be the one to do that to someone else.
When you put that way. Your right. I never gave it much thought. For that matter they might have a problem you don't know about. I don't hey that many anyway. I guess I'll just toss it
