I can relate to what you’re going through—I’m currently going through a divorce myself, and letting go has been one of the hardest lessons. One thing that’s helped me is focusing on what I can control each day, even if it’s just something small like taking a walk, journaling, or breathing exercises. I remind myself that healing isn’t about forgetting, but about freeing up energy to put toward the present and future. When negative thoughts come, I try to shift to gratitude—naming even the tiniest things I’m thankful for helps me stay positive. You’re not alone in this struggle. Keep showing up for yourself—you’re stronger than you realize.

Control over anything in life whether it be other things or other people is an internal issue and needs to be worked on as such. You can only control your own way in this world, your own actions and or reactions to outside happenings. It will drive you nuts attempting to control your surroundings or environment because that's not possible. Just control how you react to these things and try to move forward.

Check out the books untethered soul and the surrender experiment. I can only read small bits at a time and then let it sink in.. but they’ve helped me through tough situations..

I def can relate. I use honesty. With honesty come accountability and when you can use both of those things for YOUR good then things get a little easier. For me it was being honest to others (telling them I want to use/dreams of using) etc. being honest opens a whole world of insight people are willing to share with you.

Jen, letting go has always been tough for me too. One thing that helps is writing down what’s in my control on one side of the page and what isn’t on the other. Seeing it in black and white makes it easier to hand over the stuff that’s not mine to carry. You’re not alone in this, thanks for asking out loud.

This is easy for me today, was not so easy early in my journey. It was explained to me how much control in the world I don't have. Here is some of the things I have no control over...

  1. People using their turn signal
  2. What my nephew does to obtain a job
  3. How my brother spends his money
  4. How my parents react to the said nephew not gojng to college after graduating high-school
  5. The weather
  6. The score of the NY Yankees game
  7. The wait at the drive through
  8. The Earth Rotating around the sun
  9. The algorithms of the TikTok, the Facebook, the YouTube, etc
  10. Deers running in front of the car st 4:00 am in the morning
  11. The amount of chicken in a chicken bake at the Costco
  12. Gravity & Time
  13. Turbulence on a plane ride
  14. The girls screaming right into my ear at the One Direction concert (no judging I took my kids)
  15. T-shirts that shrink
  16. Being allergic to penicillin
  17. The amount of jelly in a Dunkin Donuts jelly donut
  18. Inflation
  19. Unemployment percentage
  20. The cost of gas

Ok, I could go on with the list. Looking at this list, I know I'm not in control of almost anything in this universe. What I am in control of is my attitude and to do my Higher Power's will, not mine.
