How did you start getting motivated to get back in the gym after getting sober? I have such a lack of energy. I know my body and mind are healing when I sleep but I’m needing something to get me going and not just too drained to go to the gym. I miss feeling healthu and strong.
Just go and hop on the treadmill and listen to music even if it’s for 20-30min. You’ll eventually progress to other exercises and it’ll become your new habit
I agree with Luis, once you start going and making it a habit you’ll see how amazing you feel after every workout and you’ll want to do it everyday
Start small. Even stretching counts. Energy shows up when you do, even if it’s slow at first.
For me a big part of getting sober was so that I could go to the gym. I didn't like what was happening to my body without regular exercise. I didn't want that. I also had people my age dying and knew I didn't want that. I started slowly and it became easier and easier every time. The feeling after makes it worth it.
I had the same issue with motivation. I just didn’t want to do anything. My husband and I got a gym membership for the new year and I started taking my headphones and I watched my favorite shows while on the treadmill. At first I could only do a slow walk for about 10 minutes but I’m up to about 25 or 30 minutes now.
