After 9 mos sobriety , I found out I’m bipolar. Likely have been since I was a teenager and looking back it explains a lot. Still processing but I’m thankful i was able to truly begin working on myself after so long.

I was diagnosed later in life too (type 1 bp). Makes life tougher obviously but way easier to live with sober. With the right medication I have been mostly symptom free since getting clean. I try to not to use it as an excuse for my drug and alcohol abuse but it obviously played a role. Medication is necessary for me to prevent mania but it's all manageable as long as I stay sober.
