After months of binge drinking I am ready to stop again- but why does it feel so much harder the second time around? I wanted to give myself the summer but I know if i kept it up, the inevitable would happen. Hows everyone been holding up?!?
After 2 years sober I can honestly say my life is better than it was. I know I don’t have a relapse in me. If I would, it would kill me. Get involved in a program. Any program, all the programs… whatever it takes. Good luck! I hope you find the peace you deserve
This is my third time getting sober. Been sober for about 20 years before. This time I’m going through a program at Kaiser. They gave me medication pills for the cravings. I only took them a few times, u may also take the shot.
There's truth behind the statement that it "gets harder every time". Congratulations on making the decision again, and for being wise and deciding to not wait the summer out. A lot can happen in a short period of time.
I find it’s always hard to get started trying to be sober again. It’s worth it. You have some summer left to truly enjoy.
I am on day 4 of a restart myself and it is rough but so worth it. After many years of binge drinking I hit the wall. I do not crave drinking but the recovery process is difficult. Hang in there Jennifer.
It shouldn’t be hard at all considering all the chaos and injury caused by drinking.
But it is.
Are you familiar with The Jaywalker analogy?
Hey Ray good morning. It will progressively get harder to stop and the consequences will get worse. How about you just make this part of your recovery and think of today only. Really you just need to get through this morning. This concept is so simple it’s hard to believe how powerful it is. I will not try to sell you on AA but I will say I wake up every morning and tell myself that I’m giving myself a break…. From myself. Today I don’t have to be a selfish drunk. I don’t have text or call my dealer. That’s just a simple start for a complicated person. Of course if you need medical intervention then by all means please get it! Detox from whatever substance followed by rehab is a 30 day head start!
Would you like to connect? I'm starting again now.
I have heard of it- but am unfamiliar.
Thank you! This means alot
The book Alan Carr's quit drinking without willpower changed my life for the better. I highly recommend giving it a read.
Is important to get help through a group or online support… let me know if need more information.
