After way too many relapses, this time feels so different

After way too many relapses, this time feels so different. Looking forward to every milestone and every new day. I have hit rock bottom coming home from 7 months of rehab. I have to rebuild everything and it feels impossible. But despite it all, I’ve realized that I need to be kind and grateful to be alive. Every day no matter what, no matter how cynical or irreverent I feel, I just need to be kind.

I feel the same exact way. I went to rehab for 30 days last may then relapsed not too long after coming home. Then I started this journey again towards the end of last year. I’ve been in rehab for 4 months and it was completely my choice. I am lucky enough to be in a rehab where I have my phone and I go out every day on my own. But this has been the best decision I’ve made. I’m starting from scratch and I’m actually ok with that for some reason. Never thought I would say that by the way. Welcome back. Keep a positive mindset as I’m trying to do the same

I know exactly how you feel. Life’s been a skipping record of relapses, illness, destructive chaotic behavior. It wears you down. Some of us have to hit our very rock bottom to be awoken. If we live through it we get another chance at life and it’s easy when we’re sober and clear headed. This time feels different for me too. Continue being grateful and kind! You are relevant.

I was in rehab for 45 days and relapsed twice, but I sorta know the feeling, and it difficult to describe. Just for me it was just about ten days ago I woke up and wasn’t angry or nervous. I just decided to change my mentality and out look. Tried to be positive towards my situation’s and responsibilities. Just really helped me and tomorrow I’m two weeks sober.

Isn't it amazing how being true to the process makes it so strong in your heart? I too have begun the true , deep, and honest process off the steps of AA after 10 years of needing it  I'm so thankful for everyone in AA. Especially my beautiful sponsor!

Rebuilding is way easier than destroying was. You’re going to be surprised how creative we are. Stay strong. You’re going to blow your own mind.

It sounds like you and I have a lot in common and can support each other. I’m happy that you responded to my post. Let me know if you want to talk for support through this craziness of addiction

Thank you to everyone for support. It’s so needed right now

Hope is the life.
I admire your desire and commitment to be sober.

I wish you all the best in great journey of soberity.

Proud of you, Ali! We got this :metal:

Be kind to yourself first. Remember addiction is an illness. Just take it slow. Homes are built brick by brick. Maybe think of it that way as you are rebuilding your life. Take one thing at a time. I don't know who your higher power is...but remember you are a child of God...."He does not make junk." Be kind to yourself. Sending positive thoughts your way, Ali.

Good luck as you continue on your sober journey. :v::sun_with_face::v:

Thank you so much Kathy. That means the world to me just reading that during a hard time like tonight
