Recently sober again here, but had some long stints. I think finding community is key, online and in person if possible. Lean on friends and family if you can. AA, smart, lifering, other recovery groups are out there. It is really hard to establish non drinking patters but gets so much easier when done. Struggling myself but committed to not drinking and making it long term again.

If you can make it 24 hours with no booze you can make it for the rest of your life sober.
Go to AA meetings, 90 days 90 meetings will save your life and open up a new life for you that you haven't even drempt of yet

Hey Alyssa maybe try a meeting or getting a therapist or some sort of counseling. I know that really helped me. Just know it’s going to get a bit ugly before the storm passes. Sending much love your way

Get the book by Allen Carr. “Quitting drinking without willpower”. The information therein will help you. It really will and get that as you are doing what everybody else is suggesting.

Sounds pretty dire. I drank the majority of a fifth to a fifth a night, so I needed a medical detox for the brutal withdrawals. If you are experiencing something similar, that's the only way I really could of my own volition personally (I don't count jail and hospital for previous times. These medical detox facilities are all over , even in rural areas and many hospitals have an actual program/protocol for acute detox. They take all insurance and Medicare/ Medicaid. It essentially involves being admitted and given medicine for withdrawals over 3-4 days while vitals are monitored...a lot of sleeping usually (that was my thing, couldn't sleep without a ton of booze). I just googled available places nearby and looked over some reviews and chose a somewhat close , favorably reviewed one. If you have no insurance, they will even sign you up due to the emergent nature of acute detox with alcohol. I can not recommend it anymore and it springboards you off to the best 5 day start to sobriety possible. Afterwards, I would recommend at least a 30 day rehab to learn how to be and remain sober. If you have any questions, message me. I just went through this whole process two months ago and I know the process ad nauseum now. Good luck. Please reach out if need be. It is no problem.

I second what Derek said. I tried on my own a few different ways. I went through detox twice over a month. The first time I tried Intensive Outpatient program, IOP, after detox. Made it 5 days before I relapsed. After the second detox I went into a 30 day rehab. I am currently 22 months solder and taking it one day at a time. I had to be away from everything to start this journey. I couldn’t be happier with the results. I lean a lot on my higher power.

I passed away but survived from my DT’s. If you’ve drank a lot over a long amount of time. Please medical detox.

Being self aware is an amazing thing. I’ll be sending you prayers in the meantime.

I suggest reading a book called This Naked Mind by Annie Grace & The 30 Day Alcohol Experiment also by Annie Grace. These are 2 of the best books I’ve ever read!!! Then, I paid to go through her program called The PATH. At that time, it was 90 days. Now they have stretched it out into a whole year. It was the best money I’ve ever spent & I haven’t had any alcohol in over 7.5 months

AA meetings help, getting a sponsor and getting connected with other alcoholics in recovery. We know what you’re going through. You can do this. One day at a time.

Good evening Alyssa,
I’m an active member of AA. Just shy of 41 months sober now. This is the longest I’ve ever been sober. I can say the steps have really changed my life. I was drinking and using Meth. Today I have zero urges.

You ready to go to any lengths to achieve sobriety? I was at the point where I needed to hit my knees and ask the universe to help me. I was doomed and had no where to go.

Cravings? Obsessive behavior?

I remember feeling this way. I chose to check myself into a 30 day program. I was at the point I had to give up control to get myself where I wanted to be. It gave me a safe structured environment to really work on myself and took out any temptation of going right back to the pub or liquor store. Meetings help as well, but the biggest thing was getting over that first few weeks and setting a goal for myself. You are in the right place and want to stop drinking which is the start now find a plan and do it. You owe it to yourself. Keep your head up you got this.
