The book alcohol lied to me by Craig Beck was an eye opener for me. There is a part two of the book as well. Mentioning it in case you haven’t heard of it. I am on my 11 day today.
I’ll have to check that book out. Thanks. I am on day 13.
Congratulations on that struggle. Alcohol is demon juice. Dang chit will sit you out if you don’t keep it buried in the pit. Thanks for the info
Thank you for sharing Didy!
I bought it the day I decided to quit drinking. I got through the first like 30 pages or so and got lost in it. Repetitive-Ness wasn't really for me. I'm on day 35 cold turkey, so maybe I'll pick it back up. The reviews for the book were awesome. It was my niche since meetings aren't my thing.
CONGRATS Didy
Wow that’s amazing congratulations. What part of the book was eye opener for you ?
I got the audiobook and I know what you are saying. However I think that is part of the strategy. How to change paradigms and rewire our brains to accept that alcohol is not making us any favors.
Yea repeating is the strategy but I guess I wasn't in the mind set. I used to love to read and lost that passion a while ago, and figured maybe this book would spark it back up and it didn't. But I have it on hand if I need to
I always thought that I had anxiety and had to drink to let it go. Then he talks about testing that hypothesis by drinking then stopping and observing how you feel after five hours. It is alcohol abstinence which causes anxiety and not the other way around. I’ve been drinking for at least 30 years and although I am not a blackout kind of person because I most of the time stop after a few drinks, anxiety has clearly become worst with the years. I’ve seen the same happen to others around me that also drink.
I am listening now to “We are the luckiest” I find it interesting so far. This one is a lady telling her struggles through recovery.
Read the book. Loved it!
Thanks for the recommendation, will definitely be checking it out. Keep up the great work!
