Alcoholic? Or…

Alcoholic? Or…am I a philosopher in a hotel, in crisis of why alcoholism ever came to need recovery, writing a book about questions already answered by the universe that other philosophers listened to it first about?

The answer is simple you see.

Google philosophy helpline. The first answer is a complicated one that never meant to have the answer which is how all answers need to remain.

It’s a company called philosophy.com I suppose?

They sell body products.

We’re all just passengers figuring out where the whole world fits in our brains, remembering sometimes to eat instead of thanking it for feeding us.

The answer is always right in front of us.

Every one of you, be strong.

Never give up. The universe will continue talking to us regardless of if we are listening to its laws of physics or religious beliefs that we were offered the biology to have tried to listen to it with.

I’m helping a buddy get through another addiction of his own. I was writing and realized this:

The answer for so many of us was written a long time ago:

“The truth knocks on the door and you say, "Go away, I'm looking for the truth," and so it goes away. Puzzling.”

Robert M. Pirsig, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry Into Values (Phaedrus, #1)

My favorite words that the human race has produced with its experiment

A lonely, scared, hotel animal is no different from someone who has found the answer.

We are all expressions of the universe’s answers to be upset about to begin with.

I am an alcoholic who drank until he was finally not an insufferable genius.

Stopped drinking and realized we’re all answering our questions without having language to do so out loud.

We become misunderstood.

Then we explain that.

For too long

We only learn it when someone finally makes a consequence for us holding them hostage with our bullshit

Give everything back to them and love them so much better than you did yesterday. Everyday.

We don’t need a book, we need to love each other.

No one would need mine but they will think they do.

But wait there’s more: always

And never

“Welcome to the Philosophy helpline. If you’re looking to write a college paper, or hope to impress your date, or see life as a featureless void empty of all hope, or our most common answer, ‘all of the above,’ you’ve come to the right place…

For Descartes, please press (1,0,0). You have pressed it, therefore you will be connected to him. But who is it that is really doing the pressing? Is it possible to press the act of pressing itself? All that is certain is that you exist, that I exist, and that your call may be recorded for quality assurance purposes.”

Maybe this person answered it

Another result of our little experiment here on earth.

But be fantastic and strong everyone.

Be better every minute you can.

Don’t die alone by choosing to make others demand it.

That’s why we stop drinking.

Thank you all and the universe itself for producing an answer everyday.

And thank yourselves for being in the experiment trying to provide answers you are looking for all of the time to sometimes describe why you were looking to begin with.

I love all of you.

And now I’m going to eat this sandwich and write the book that you all just pointlessly observed the beginning of.

It’s the same book I thought I wanted to write when my parents had a thought that I ought to exist.

It was your thought too, in this universe.

You were my mom and my dad and my wife and my kids.

You are today.

Because you also inhabit the question this universe is answering. Using us for nothing. Asking us for nothing. And noticing nothing when we hear it.

But we are all answers waiting to happen.

Be one today and do not give up. But if you are one today and not tomorrow. Remind yourself that you are answering the question even when you aren’t trying to.

Love yourself and me and everyone else.

Love them way more by loving the universe that provided them for you on accident.

Love every molecule of this.

Meaning is often found when there is none because of the molecules we operate with and require them.

But it was there before you were thinking about it. You just weren’t ready to hear your favorite song.

It’s the sound of space occupied by any of us.

Thank you for being in time with me today.

And remember that I thanked you tomorrow for it too.

You were made of molecules that have been through more things than you.

Use them respectfully and love everything you possibly can with the opportunity to have been using them to think about it.

And I will love you back like anything old enough to understand why it’s needed.
