What do people think about when you say you're an alcoholic, do you like it? I believe I struggle when drinking but saying those negative words coming out of my mouth is giving power to alcohol.
Words are very powerful. I was never ashamed of saying, “I know I’m an alcoholic to a certain degree”, but I’m also an open book so I didn’t have a problem saying that. I never really drank everyday, just on the weekends but when I started, I couldn’t stop, so I was one of those. Now, I don’t say those words, and it’s not because I don’t want to admit it, it’s because of the power of our words. If you tell yourself your stupid when you make every single little mistake, guess what, you’re going to start believing you’re stupid. So I started switching the narrative, now I just say…. “I don’t need, it’s not who I am anymore and I’m definitely not an alcoholic anymore.”
