All right, fine. They're still my parents, they're still my sisters. And they're probably out there telling people how I "abandoned" them. They definitely think I'm the bad guy for choosing my own sanity over their craziness.
The fucked up part of it all is that they're the ones who made me deal with my own craziness in the first place. Ten years ago, my parents and my sisters staged a sort of intervention, as only they could, in which they physically dragged me into the office of the psychiatrist, and my parents threatened to kick me out of their house if I didn't do something about all my anger, and the depression underneath the anger.
And then, when I finally became sane enough to realize how batshit insane THEY are, and decided I can't deal with their insanity and be sane myself, they made me the bad guy for choosing sanity. My parents will die waiting for the apology they think I owe them. My sisters spend the rest of their lives being bitter and bitchy about the fact that I left them to deal with mommy when she has mental illness and dementia and refuses any kind of treatment for anything, and they'll probably end up resenting mommy for sucking the life out of them. I hope someday they realize they can walk away from her the same way I did.
The only ones who will ever get an apology out of me are my niece and nephews, because they're children and they don't deserve to see all the in-fighting and chaos
