Almost 2 months sober from alcohol and the road has been good for the most part. But today has been extremely difficult. I'm the primary caretaker to my 90 year old grandma and I'm raising my 16 year old daughter and I just didn't feel like getting out of bed! Aside from my alcohol addiction, I'm struggling with trying to quit cigarettes and losing weight. Lately my dreams have been extremely vivid and I'm waking up sadder everyday. Trying to push through but the memories of the things I did while under the influence feel like they are haunting me and the sadness I feel thinking of all the times I blacked out is very overwhelming. I'm not in any AA groups although I would like to attend some just finding the time makes it difficult. Praying to God He takes all my afflictions and urges, so I can continue living my life and aspire to be my best self.
Zoom meetings around the clock. Getting plugged in alleviates a ton of issues dealing with addiction. Sobriety is a “we” program. We stay sober. Me uses. If you need lists of meetings on zoom ask. Hope you can find some relief. I feel ya taking care of that 90 year old. Takes a lot. And with a 16 year old to boot. Dang. Doing the right thing talking about it. Keep sharing. Helps getting stress off your soul. And keep that higher power front and center. Best medicine ever. And those dreams get better over time. Just the brain getting rewired. Keep hanging in there. It will get easier. Guaranteed.
Thanks K for confirming I did the right thing by sharing. Never shared on this or any platform before about my struggles and I don't have many people within my circle that I speak to about what I'm dealing with. Being a caretaker and a mom I feel like I have to be on and in good spirits and be the ear for everyone to feel comfortable to talk to. My spirituality is one of the main things I hold on to for comfort and guidance. Do you have any lists for zoom meetings that you can share? Thanks again for your kind words of understanding!
Ok
As stated above, you're no longer alone. The recovery community is filled with people who've endured the things you're dealing with. Recovery won't always be rainbows & unicorns but life does get better.
Not sure if your area has a central AA office, but if it does, a phone call could possibly put you in touch with some local sober women.
Best of luck on your sober journey, the best years of your life are awaiting as you begin this path of self discovery.

Agreed. The Meeting Guide app will show you all the meetings near you no matter where you are on the globe!
Thanks Steve! Yesterday was a tough day but taking the step and venting my emotions definitely helped plus I received resourceful information on around the clock zoom meetings, now I just have to take the step and attend one. I'm excited about my sober life because I know deep down inside it will be better than the life I was living but I'm so nervous of falling back into my old ways but I will start each day with the goal of staying sober and getting out of my shell to make sober friends.
Thanks Tonya & Steve for the feedback.
