Almost 2 weeks without alcohol

Im learning that I can’t derive motivation to stay sober from any one thing or person, I have to be motivated by internal things, otherwise I seem to care less about throwing in the towel.

You have to want it more than anything for sure! Congrats on almost 2 weeks. Getting sober is deeply personal. I’m still figuring it all out myself but staying connected to others is super helpful. Keep up the good work!

What made you want to stop? How bad did it get?

Very true!

Felt my drinking slipping well out of my control. Afraid of what might happen down there road if I didn’t stop (potential for health problems, etc). It was already affecting my parenting I think.

It’s baffling isn’t it? There are lots of people who have been baffled in the same kind of ways. It’s best if you can talk to some of them and hear their stories. Get help. It will save you some pain.

Congrats Marcus!
I need something outside of myself to get me and keep me sober. Higher power (God)….
AA has been a blessing for me.
Have you tried AA yet? I was miserable after I got sober. Hated everything. But after working the steps and now practicing them daily life is very rewarding.

Good job Marcus! Men in Nursing-love it!

Keep up the good work

You deserve sobriety. Keep pushing. You can do this

Thank you. Im used to trying to think of how I deserve that next drink but now I need to remind myself to at I deserve to take care of my body!

Congratulations. Being sober is an inside job.

I know the feeling all to well almost to deaths doors and then I decided to find excuses to ask for help from higher power and show me the way. It was for me about facing alot of darkness inside. Little by little true freedom started to abound. I wish you the best on your journey.
