Almost 60 days sober & still struggling with staying asleep

almost 60 days sober & still struggling with staying asleep throughout the whole night. anyone else had this problem early on? if so, what made it better? or do i just need to wait a bit longer for my body to readjust?

You definitely need more time to adjust. Melatonin is great, so is exercise. Whatever you do, just don't pick up! Nothing is worth that

okay, will do! thank you

I’m with you Lauren121370. I just hit 20 days and I can’t stay a sleep. I tried Melatonin mabey Matt can suggest a good brand?

i’ve tried melatonin in the past & haven’t really had good experiences with it. but i think i’m gonna try chamomile tea!

Sleep issues are common with PAWS (Post Acute Withdrawal Symptoms). Sometimes it can last months, to even a year. I struggle with sleep still, and I will have 6 months next Saturday.

Time takes time, as we say, and unfortunately, we spent a LOT of time drinking ourselves to sleep. Its all our bodies know and if you put it in perspective, a couple months is nothing compared to years of drunk sleeping.

I feel ya, but give yourself a chance. Ive found that reading helps me a LOT. Eating better, and never within an hour of sleep time. Breathing exercises and meditation have also proven to be effective for me as well.

You are not alone, and it stinks, but it’s part of this process of regenerating healthy habits. Dont drink/or use no matter what!

I wouldn’t wait too long before talking with a doctor. Insomnia can have a bad effect emotionally. Good luck
