Almost a month sober. Feeling physically better. Mentally, I feel my depression more sharply.

Almost a month is a big deal, but I wouldn’t ignore the depression getting sharper. Sometimes when we remove what we were using to cope, we realize there’s still other stuff that needs attention. Do you have a doctor, therapist or someone helping you with that side of things right now?

I don’t have a therapist yet, and I don’t have health insurance, but I’m working on finding something.

I’m also in early recovery. Feeling feelings that I’ve never let myself feel or chased with alcohol has been so difficult. But we can do this and we deserve better days. You’ve got this, I believe in you!

Pete, don’t trip too hard. It is normal in early sobriety to feel intense emotions! Some greatly heightened and some deeply depressed! Trust me, this shall pass if you stay sober and DO THE WORK.
The 12 steps of AA/NA saved me from continuing suffering and relapses. It took me a long time to finally go all in, but once I did I was released from the pain.

I had heavy depression in early recovery. I couldn't smile or feel joy. I needed to go to the emergency room clean, and ask for help. I did get help and am very grateful today. I still take my meds as prescribed by my psychiatrist.
Today things are much better, but I had to go through the depression to come out the other side. I wish you well and hope you find what you need to survive and stay clean and sober.
