Almost blew a month and a half sobriety tonight. Haven’t wanted a drink this much since I quit. I had my car keys in hand… Ready to head to the grocery store buy a bottle of wine. I sat with it a minute. And then I sat with it some more. And then I put down my purse and my keys and I started making dinner. I started examining exactly what was driving me to want to drink. Of course I knew it was around the feelings that were coming up for me because of some thing I had to deal with today. I knew it was directly related to this. And I had to keep reminding myself of how I would feel tomorrow morning. And how I’ve been sleeping so good and so sound. That was an hour and 15 minutes ago. I’m OK now. And I’m so happy I made a mug of tea and cook dinner instead
So great you didn’t get a drink. Be proud. It’s so hard sometimes. I had 75 days. Then gave In and was so upset with myself. It can be really hard. Tea and making dinner was a great choice lol
Very good. Thing about getting sober and being so for awhile is once this gets into your dna it ruins using. When sober you are constantly reminded of the aftermath of using. You feel again and know right from wrong. Eventually that right sinks in. And you learn to follow what’s right. Feel proud of this huge win you just had. Knowing there will be many more. Hope that dinner was spectacular. You’re becoming spectacular. This is real growth. And sharing it only makes you stronger. Feelings can be handled sober. You’re proving it. Enjoy the rest of the evening in serenity. You’ve earned it.
Hey Sherry almost is just that thoughts and it's ok. We are only human. You figured it out and moved on. Perfect. I hope you enjoyed the dinner you made. Best of Luck
Good job Sherry. The pull of alcohol is hard to ignore. Stay positive and be proud you didn't give in.
Any meetings will help.it helps use change .gets use out of your head.and not isolate .meet people who can help.
Great choice and inspiring in your actions. Thank you for sharing something so honestly. I hope dinner was delicious.
Glad you didn’t go get the wine! Great job knowing it, and sitting with it before giving in to the desire!
Remember why you quit in the first place. That's what helps me. One day at a time. You got this
Glad you got through it!
Way to stay strong! Proud of you.
Heck yeah. Zen master with the challenging of the thought. Give someone a call to talk about it.
Sherry, I love reading that you played that tape forward and chose to treat yourself the way you deserve to be treated-without alcohol! Awesome choice, keep going!
Got to a meeting next day!
Good job staying strong and focusing on the root cause of the desire. Keep it up
Nice! So proud of you for getting through that. Just like anything else, a craving has a beginning, a middle, and an end. The trick is just getting to the end of it without giving in:)
You got this!!!
I was at about the same point a month & a half when I blew it. I’m trying to get it back now
I just did the same 75 days. You’re still another 75. Day2.
Hang in there!! If you ever need someone to reach out to feel free to message me when you are having those moments of wanting to use. I’m starting to realize that the need for connection as part of the reason why I created my addiction. I didn’t feel connected to my family first and foremost growing up in that set up a lot of the patterns that led me to down the road to addiction
I’m glad you are back on the path!
