Alone time

So my boyfriend is going on a boys getaway to play golf and watch a football game … he will be gone for several days. I fear that I will be alone and pick up a drink ..when he has gone away in the past this is what I would always do and without him around to watch o would drink even more ?!? I am 14 days clean and I want to continue … any advice ?

Do you have a sponsor or someone who knows about your sobriety who you can check in with while he is away? Also keeping busy - going to meetings (if AA is your thing), planning meet ups with friends, etc. could also help. Journaling every morning helps keep me accountable for my sobriety every day and I find that helpful. The fact that you are simply articulating your concern shows you're self aware and motivated to stay sober.

I remember the first weekend I had alone after getting sober. I was terrified I was gonna screw up and get a bottle. I went to a meeting everyday, and called my sponsor just to check in. Also tried to keep busy doing things… washed my truck, cleaned the house, went to the archery range. And I checked in with my wife every morning and evening. You got this. The fear you have shows you want to stay sober! You are winning in my book!
