And 12 hours off of heroin in fentanyl and a little more away from meth I don't understand how to make it through this pain I know it withdrawals are and I know what it's like to fiend but the pain it not only causes physically in your guts and your arms and legs how they want to burst and shake..... I've never had any drug fk with my head the way that this sht does and unfortunately I suffer from mental illness already and this just is not fun I've been going to meetings I'm doing this for me instead of being forced to do it I finally want to get clean after 33 years of drug use and in and out of multiple treatment centers halfway houses recovery homes prison fk this this disease can go fk itself...... I guess the point of this rambling is this anxiety and overwhelming panic I keep getting I already suffer from a panic disorder that puts me in manic State sometimes for weeks but those don't come all the time maybe once a year sometimes not even that but this time it just doesn't want to end and I know it's the dope coming out of me but my God I can't sit I am constantly thinking I'm dying something bad is going to happen my children are going to be hurt there's always something on my mind and the more I try to freaking stop thinking about it the harder and harder it hits me I try anything I can to just be in the moment and notice my breathing I can't I don't understand all the abuse I've done to myself why does this have to be the hardest
Getting sober will help your mental health although it may not feel like it now, mental health & meds also MAT can really help u get thru this process, the longer u been gone the harder it is & more help u need so please don’t try to do it alone
There is no secret remedy to opiate withdrawal in my experience. It's just a brutal, painful (physically and mentally) couple of months. The only saving grace I had was that I knew in time I wouldn't feel that way in anymore. It is only temporary and with time will go away. I didn't feel right for about 60-90 days but once I made it over that hump I knew I could recover if I didn't cave to that brutal urge to pick them up again. Short term fix to a long term problem. I feel for the pain you're going through cause I've been there but it can be done. Good luck to you and don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. Some medical intervention can be helpful sometimes.
I agree with Brett. He pretty much said basically what I was going to say. You got this brother! One day at a time. One thing that helped me is to force my self to occupy my mind somehow. Either with grounding techniques ie saying the alphabet backwards, naming all the states and their capitals. Taking a shower. Forcing myself to partake in some type of hobby or doing some yard work etc. Taking walks or exercising. Watching some motivational videos and/or uplifting music or some recovery songs by Colicche on YouTube. Calling up a friend, family member, or my sponsor, calling the hotlines, crisis line/suicide prevention line. Finding a virtual meeting. Anything I could do to help get my mind away from using. You can message me anytime as well.
Hey Josh! I was there 2 weeks ago. In a detox center. I finally had to get real about my ability to get clean at home. It was impossible. I went to detox and ended up staying for 8 days. They say opiates are a 3-5 day detox, but the fentanyl is proving to be at least a week. I honestly could have used another week. We were hijacked by a synthetic chemical. It’s brutal. But!!!!!! I’m alive. I’m home, and I’m CLEAN. You can do this. Message me any time
