Today, at 38 days, I was hit out of nowhere with a good dose of anger and resentment, which big triggers for me. I wobbled in my thinking a bit but did not drink by recognizing that it was a temporary emotion about the past I could not change, praying to my God to relieve me of the emotion and to fill my Spirit playing, in my case, worship music, but to each his own, and busying myself with work, and the emotion and any inclination to drink passed. What have you found effective to overcome triggers to using and relapse?

Early on in my recovery I did exactly what you described. Sit with it, process it and let it go. Great job man! Those emotions and feelings do get easier to deal with as we learn, and feel them with a clear head. Congrats on the 38 days!

I just looked back, and it’s actually 40 days!—lol. Can’t wait until the rollercoaster of emotions stop, if they ever do, but definitely the ups and downs have lessened and the clarity of my thought and productivity has increased.
