Another Friday night alone

At least I’m making dinner for my parents tonight. The lonely weekends are the hardest!

Early in sobriety, I did not know what to do with myself (other than get ossified and black out). I’d spent years drinking to escape my feelings and didn’t know how to process my feelings without the drink.

I went to therapy, I took up meditation, I made friends in the rooms and started having a social life.

Now I love (and look forward to) my alone time. Possibly because, after nearly a decade sober, I finally have the nice apartment with the big screen TV, partly because therapy and meditation have taught me to process my emotions and be more relaxed.

I work from home, so I’m pretty much alone all the time. Except when I hang out with my folks or go to the grocery store, which I’ve come to revel.

My life is completely isolated, otherwise.

You’re allowed to go places other than the grocery store and your parents house.

Well, yeah. I haven’t found things to go do that put me around a lot of people, honestly. Used to just go to the bar every day.

Well you could make friends with people in the rooms, and hang out with them.

Same with me. In the past 2.5 years I've isolated so much. I don't even want ti leave the house. I'm content in my space. It's not healthy and I know it. Hang in there. Maybe try to force yourself out one day a week for just a couple hours. That's what I do.

Chef Raymond !
