Anthony Hopkins talked about the relief he got during a certain point in his sobriety. I have felt that relief . This is how I’m gonna live my life

Shaila glad t see you have a serious attitude about your health and future, and that you chose to listen to to an experienced elder Anthony. In this pursuit, I guess it helps that he is publicly attributed as being a wise one from all the parts he’s played, but I’ve heard his rap a couple years back and generally agree.
Here’s my credentials that are based on 40+ years of absolute abstinence with no set backs and my approach as being self taught and self guided.
I have never walked away from the environment that was the temptation, that’s what I had to conquer, why avoid it! The decision of getting clean was self generated and final all in a mater of an hour. And, was based on my personal pride of my artistic ability and the honoring of that hard won talent and its value to my core being. By hard won I mean I learned to trust my own judgment of myself beyond the opinion of others like family, school, and friends. Time and time again I found that the advice of others that I followed when not inline with my own assessment of myself was followed, it was confusing or failed in its results. After quite a few try’s at being ‘trained’ I concluded that there was something sacred about my own intuition and self judgment that trumped all the outside advice.
When someone’s council would fail, it was like a bell that rang, “I knew better than that”, why didn’t I listen to myself first? As a background note I’d like to say that so much of our education is indoctrination; a lot of that by just peer pressure! Some of that authority and some from friends. The two sources get mingling and can be confusing. Therefore muddying our own clear vision.
This story might be long, but very relevant, so I’ll break it up into one or two more posts. Check back this method is Novel, but very effective!
