Thank you
Go to meetings. Listen. Surround yourself with people who have made it from where you are, to where you want to be.
12 steps saved my life, but it is only 1 of many modalities to try out. The best program is the one that works for you!!
90 meetings in 90 days. Get a sponsor. Study the literature. Be of service. DON'T USE NO MATTER WHAT! 1 is too many, a 1000 never enough.
Work steps in order with your Sponsor.
Thank you … I’m writing everything down and putting it into action.
Thank you … I found a 12 step workbook and was going to do it on my own
I’ll try to find someone to help me.
35 years clean in NA. Doing things your way got u to your current state. I cannot recommend strongly enough the importance of going to meetings. People with successful ongoing recovery attend meetings on a regular basis. I strongly recommend 90 meetings in 90 days. Zoom meetings are available. NA dot ORG & AA dot ORG
Thank you! I’m looking for Zoom meetings now. I so appreciate that… and I’ll look for people who are thriving
In addition to meetings, stay physically active as much as you can. The release of endorphins as a result will help tremendously.
That’s great … I actually planned to really lean into this one … to fill the time and have something healthy to obsess about
Thank you!
What helped me get to my first day was the audiobook “cold turkey” by mishka shubally. He doesn’t pull punches, but he gets it and doesn’t judge. Not for everyone but was good for me
I prefer the pull no punches style
Thanks! I’ll order it!
Let the steps speak to you and release your ego to your higher power and all will be revealed. Keep the faith.
Thank you!
WELCOME Jeninbifer and congrats that you want to work yourself. YOU coul go AA meetings find a sponsor
Doing by yourself can be challenging but not impossible.. But its good to talk to other people.. just saying..
congratulations on joining here!! we have to understand that there are many tricks addiction can use against us. a great piece of advice i’m going to share (in order to remind myself as well). when you get an urge to use, stop what you are doing if possible, take a minute, breathe deeply a few times and ask yourself what the truth is. is that thought you or is it your addiction trying to manipulate you? i hope that helps. it’s worked for me every time so far.

Thank you!
I’m writing that down - thank you!
The reason it’s better to not do this on your own is it’s too easy to lie to yourself or convince yourself to do the wrong thing. By going to groups or anything similar you now have outside help that will provide a level of accountability that is pretty important
Thank you - I will definitely need accountability lol
