Any tips on how to stay cheerful when feeling down???
Be of service to someone who is struggling more than you are.
In addition to Craig’s excellent suggestion, it can also be helpful to do something creative. I would also highly recommend journaling or talking to someone about why you’re down. Sometimes it’s ok to not feel cheerful and just process what you’re feeling
Music or talking to a friend helps me !!!
Positive upbeat music no depression love or break up songs… turn it up sing like no one watching and let it out don’t hold the bad feelings. And good food cheesecake makes me feel better
Gratitude list, music, reaching out to someone, helping someone, doing a body scan meditation. Anything to bring you back to the present moment and in your body.
Sometimes you just have to accept that you are feeling down and embrace it. When I get really sad, I try to just breathe and go outside for a walk. I will watch a movie that is also sad. You just have to get through the bad feelings. Sometumes I can cheer myself up, and sometimes I have to remind myself that I am just experiencing a negative emotion, and I have to get through it no matter what.
I just walk it out then I feel myself happy self again
Play music really loud and dance around your house.
Help someone out, watch silly animal videos, watch a fish tank, color (one of my favorites)
Not running from the blues is my key. I experience the negative emotion and allow it to play out. If that doesn’t work I call a sober like minded friend and talk about it. Staying cheerful doesn’t happen for me but after 1030 days sober I do smile more.
I pet my dog till I feel better! If you don't have a dog then go to a park or dog beach!
Smile. It really works!
I have a sober friend who just lost his wife. How do you get through that without feeling sad? You dont. Sometimes life just sucks and we have to keep going. No matter how bad it feels. You negative emotions make you stronger in the long run. The trick is not letting them take over. Do something fun or nice for yourself after you have had a good meal, and a good night's sleep.
I 100% agree. Just keep swimming.
If you can't change what's getting you down , then lay it to rest and concentrate on positive thoughts
Think about helping someone in need
Walks. Baths Calling a loved one. Listening to music. Meditating. Eating healthy. Counting your blessings.
Force yourself to do something ridiculous and when you do it you will have no choice but to giggle and laugh a Lil. Like for example I had a deep dark depression a couple of years ago and my home girl made me twerk and said I had to do it and practice it and I did and I can't twerk at all so it looks dumb and I felt like a dumb goofball and it cheered me up and made me laugh at myself.
