Thank you for today, Father. Please help to slow down my brain, my breathing, and my heart so that I am rested to meet another day.

Sorry to anyone still awake that doesn’t need to be.

Fall asleep, no. Stay asleep, yes. For years now. Tried everything from guided meditation to Melatonin. Wake up at least once an hour until I give up, get up and get moving and start my day. Usually 2-3:00 in the morning. Been this way for years now. Progressively gotten worse. Hard to remember when it started exactly but not long after getting clean & sober. Wish I had some advice for you but the best I can do is let you know you're not alone.

Thanks, Dion. That does help. Your nights/mornings sound a lot like mine. Tried all the same stuff and the most I might get is 40-45 minutes at a time when I do manage to go down. I’ll get a couple of short stretches from now until maybe 4:30 or 5 and then I’ll be up for the day pounding coffee.

Sorry to hear that.

My therapist wants to put me on meds. Some kind of mood stabilizer that will supposedly help regulate my sleep but I really don’t want that. Feels like trading in one crutch for another. I just want to fall asleep like “normal” people, it just doesn’t happen. I’ll be up all week and then end up wasting weekends napping.

I’ll stop. We should both try to get whatever we can if you’re even reading my nonsense.

I can make it on four hours if I could go down now and stay there, I just can’t turn my brain off to get there.

No need to read any of this, Dion. Just reaching out to not feel so alone. Rough night/morning. Headache and ringing ears. Still better to wake up sober than come to hungover after going to bed drunk.

I’m just basically F’d for the day but I’ll make it work. I always do. Hope maybe you went down for a few.

Thanks for posting up for me. It does help.

Nah man I'm up. As usual. Just gonna start the day.

Sorry to hear that. I still gotta try for a little more. Even a couple of 40 minute stretches so maybe at least the headache will be gone. Might try to read or even find a meeting.

Ever be awakened by your own snoring? I just started to drift a little and ended up waking myself up. Pretty ridiculous. My dreams will shake me out of sleep sometimes too. Falling, or being hit by something will jolt me wide awake sometimes. Fun.

And as usual aspirin is doing absolutely nothing for the headache.

Yeah I don't sleep well at all lately, my brain has other plans for me it seems. I hope this turns around for man, hang in there!

Thanks, Jason. You too. Most nights I just can’t turn it off. I’ll be reading or watching something, start to doze off, shut everything down, and I’m wide awake again. It’s not healthy.

I get that, reading would put me to sleep, watching TV would help sometimes too but I found if I didn't put a sleep timer on I would be up on and offcor not get that "deep" sleep to feel rested.

Have you tried exercising? That's next on my list, I hear it helps some people with this.

Yes, I exercise regularly and I either walk or ride a bicycle everywhere. Maybe I need to do more but sometimes it’s not easy. I had a series of abdominal surgeries years ago that messed up my core but I do what I can. And it doesn’t help that I can’t sleep on my stomach anymore like I’d been doing my entire life. I’ve always had a hard time sleeping on my back.
