Anyone else have all their vitamins/electrolytes drop really low once they got sober? I’ve always had slight kidney issues but my potassium/magnesium keep dropping to critically low levels now that I’m sober where I end up in the hospital (I’m on supplements, lots of ensure as well, following up with my doctor and have bloodwork done weekly). My glucose also keeps dropping to critically low levels? Just getting frustrated, I’m supposed to feel better yet I have no energy, keep almost passing out (everything goes black when I stand) blood pressure is low, and I have more doctors apt then ever. I relapsed and my levels actually got better, but I’m back to being sober and they dropped again…just feeling defeated
I would keep getting tested. Something is definitely off. Maybe your body needs time to adjust
Yeah. I had something similar happen. I was on weekly blood draws and lots of vitamins and supplements. Took a year but my body found homeostasis
A body badly bruised by drugs and alcohol won’t recover overnight. Give it time.
The insane part is where our disease tells us
“hey we would probably be healthier if we were back on drugs”
That’s insane, don’t listen to it. It will get better with time and sobriety.
Yeah I’ve had this issue too. I developed Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome and it has wrecked my body. I’m nearly 3 years out and still have pretty terrible symptoms. Every body is different, but make sure you are totally open with your doctors about your prior alcohol use. Also read up on PAWS and see if what you are experiencing matches up because my doctor had never heard of it before.
Not knowing can be very useful to open our minds to new ideas
