Anyone else have trouble sleeping?

I have struggled a lot with sleep as well. Try taking Magnesium. It’s natural and there are many benefits not just sleep. It’s inexpensive and you can buy it anywhere that sells vitamins. I break the pill in half because it works so well & a whole pill left me feeling tired the next day. I’ve tried many things to help with sleep. This has been by far the most helpful.

Yes, I sleep maybe 3 hours a night and it’s not consecutively.

I have been there! There are lots of resources out there but what helped me most is thinking, “this is time for my mind and body to rest” and even if you can’t fall asleep, this is true. Hope it improves

Shannon, erratic sleep is normal for early recovery … watch what you eat and drink and when….best if you dont drink coffee or caffeine after 2:00 pm …and try and stay away from spicy foods and MSG which is a preservative …Keith Kayle

Ashwagandha or sleepy time chamomile tea might help... Both can be found on Amazon.

Hells yeah, I drank primarily to sleep. I had secondary, tertiary, and quaternary ( sp?) reasons but that was the big one lol
CBD gummies actually help
20-25mg...
Melatonin gummies for a few nights
Rx wise Im on Seraquel and hydroxyzine (Vistaril) which knocks you right out but always works...and grogginess is an issue at times as they mentioned before
The CBD n melatonin is best for you health wise but the Rx aren't scheduled and nobody should have an issue writing them for you if you explain your situation.
Good luck and sweet dreams.... hopefully

If you want to get thru this naturally then i suggest to exercise for at least an hour a day, tire your body out. Eat nuts like almonds and cashews as they can cause sleepiness. Do a bedtime yoga routine and then Take a hot relaxing shower or bath before bed. Don’t look at your phone as the light from it will trick your brain into thinking it’s still daytime and it won’t produce the right sleepy chemicals. Right after your hot shower go to sleep. If you lay still for 15 min your body should fall asleep. If you are rlly having a hard time after the 15 min read a book until tired.
If you want to go a meditation/ supplement way then I suggest:
Over the counter: Melatonin or Magnesium
Prescribed: Seroquel, trazodone, or Lunesta
I hope you get the rest you deserve ❥❥❥☮︎︎☮︎︎☮︎︎ may peace come your way

So much good information here. I know I had trouble early on because I both didn't have a lot of experience with a regular sleep schedule. I also was haunted by my past.
I know magnesium helps. I know melatonin can work. I hope you also have a good sponsor. My sponsor directed through the steps as written as action steps in big book.
Also a physician is a good source if it's a health issue. Keep coming to meetings and you have a chance.

Hi Kiki,

I'm Brent. Live in South East Florida.

The best quick
advice I can give
is that a body needs to be active in order to rest. The more you do the more you will need sleep later. Activity is a key.

Maybe a workout
partner after
mtgs might help. Try to leave the coffee alone.

Please do not go for anything like Nyquil or prescriptions.

Always remember that no one ever
died from lack of sleep. Try reading. Lord knows that there are plenty of good books recovery and other.

I suffer from insomnia as well. Mine is due to a leg injury. I've been sober decades and for the last year
my dreams have been sprinkled with derails from my using days.

You can reach out on Facebook or Instagram. I'm happy to share my number if you want to kill time at night.

It's gonna be ups and downs for a bit.
Hang in there.
