I've been sober for 3 months now. I was drinking about 12-18 beers a day. I've switched to thc gummies. I'm noticing I take those all the time now too....anyone else?
An addict is an addict. It sounds like you switched from one mind altering substance to another. Why do you feel the need to escape? Is it for pain? To calm down? Just shut your head off? What programs have you been involved with? AA/NA, outpatient, therapy? Have you worked any steps?
There are some people who can do the “Mary Jane maintenance” but for most of us it is still an excuse to turn our brains off and not deal with the root of the issue. My advice is stop it. I give you props for reaching out! That’s a hard thing to do. And congratulations on being AF for the 3 months!
It’s easy to replace one habit with another. It’s good you’re free of the booze. I too use THC sometimes but definitely keep conscious of the fact that I can abuse that too if I wanted. As hard as it is give yourself a few days of true sobriety. Drink lots of water and try to eat right. After a week or two you should be able to shed most of the negative effects of the cycle. Remember we’re also breaking the habit of NEEDING something to feel. Close your eyes and focus on you, breathe and be honest. Tell yourself the things you already know and try to be that today.
I would suggest you read page #31 of the big book. See if it seems familiar.
