Anyone find out you had ADHD or another underlying condition

Anyone find out you had ADHD or another underlying condition only after you got sober, once the substance wasn’t covering it ?up anymore?

The relationship between mental health and substance use is deeply interconnected. People who suffer from untreated mental health challenges often turn to drugs or alcohol as a way to self-medicate or numb their symptoms. Conversely, prolonged substance use can alter brain chemistry and directly trigger or worsen underlying mental health problems. Genetics, trauma, and environmental stress are also major risk factors that predispose an individual to both.

Thank you. So you did find out you had ADHD after you got sober?

No. I am actually in school studying to become a substance abuse counselor, and we learned about co-occurring disorders. That's why I know about it.

Yes, I was told I may have ADHD

Borderline personality disorder, ADHD, clinical depression (which is fine now - I’ll have a couple days of the blues but it goes away) - I took dialectic behavior therapy for the borderline which saved my rear end - can now respond rather than react

Does an obsession of the mind count….. I use the 5-4-3-2-1 technique, it works for me so I don’t need another medication

Yes, it's funny that you ask this question. I was diagnosed with HUMA. I was sharing this with those I sponsor. I know they have it as well. The symptoms are the same they can't see things properly and their thoughts really stink.
I suggested that they seek medical attention for it.
One of them asked how it was cured and when.
It took some time to cure. I noticed that once I completed the 12 steps of recovery that I heard a sound come from my backside, kinda like a fart sound, and ii was able to see clearly. My doctor, who was my sponsor, at the time said that I had "Head Up My A$$"; disease and that the farting sound was my head coming out of my a$$

Yes.. We use alcohol to self medicate from all kinds of dis-eases.. That's how we become Alcoholics..
