Anyone have any advice?
I was on methadone for 5 years I was at 59mg for a long time, I wanted to get off methadone so my doctor said I could go on suboxane, when I did try it , it put me into the worst withdrawals of my life! It was so horrible, my doctor said it’s normal cause it’s trying to knock out the methadone but I’m deathly scared to take the suboxane again, I asked my doctor if I just go cold turkey , nothing, she said I can but I will feel withdrawals but not as bad as switching to suboxane, I’m like well wouldn’t I just tuff it out and not take anything, so just curious if anything else got off of methadone and the side effects you had, it’s been 5 days and I just feel tired, hot and cold, aches and pains.
It’s a good two week cold turkey withdrawal. Hope you can do it. Coming out the other side and getting your shit together for a new life clean is well worth the effort. Sobriety is just such a better way to live than being on drugs. Just saying. Do your best. Worse case scenario….you get to live again.

That’s fucked up if you’re doctor put you on suboxone before detoxing you off of the methadone! Suboxone has naloxone in it which is a blocker and it knocks any other opiates from your receptors replacing them. I know exactly how horrible that feels because I self medicated with suboxone and took it too early before the heroin/fentanyl was out of my system and almost immediately went into the most excruciating and painful withdrawals I’ve ever experienced!! Don’t be afraid to continue now with suboxone though. Personally that’s my choice for my MAT because it’s a blocker which keeps me from being able to get high even if I wanted to use whereas methadone doesn’t and people will still use while on it. Sorry you went through that horrible pain!
