Anyone have any tips on making it through the first month of sobriety?
- Go to in person meetings;
90 meetings in 90 days - Get a sponsor, even a temporary one for now that can help you
- Jump into working your steps. Don’t wait,‘don’t make excuses.
- Put the same effort you did drinking or using into your recovery
- Be honest with yourself
- Become willing to do what you are suggested to do period
Get plugged in.
Don't do anything you use to
Be strong and treat alcohol as poison.
Get sober friends. Go to AA meetings and talk to the people. Make a call.
After 90 & 90 do it again.for a year. Will help later in life.
Whatever you have to do to not pick up. Do that
I'm early in my sobriety, but what got me through the 1st month was laying low. I didn't really go anywhere except to run errands. I spent time getting to know myself and my triggers. I did a lot of thinking about why I needed to get sober and what I wanted my life to actually look like.
Just try to make it through today. Then tomorrow just try to make it through the day. The day after that just…24 hours at a time. Don’t drink, go to meetings. Don’t think too much. As folks said the 90 in 90 gives you your best chance.
For me, having hobbies that were easily accessible (needlework for example) and working to remain curious about my new life were key.
Candy! Lots and lots of candy!!!
