Anyone have any tips to beat this? I cant seem to do it
We all just do it One day at a time,, sometimes few minutes at a time., reach out ask for help and then accept itā¦
Iām with Connie. Sober for today. For me, understanding what triggers me and working to develop strategies to avoid making a choice Iāll regret has helped.
Pray. Just talk to him, cry to him if need be. He will rescue u. Meetings are our medicine.
In my early sobriety I did what was suggested (told) to me.
- Get a sponsor. Find a person of the samegender that has what you want. Work with this person and get into the book.
- Go to 90 meetings in 90 days. I'm in Learning and Development and a strong habit is built after 90 days, give or take.
- At a meeting, I suggest in person, ask for help. The higher powiner wanted humans to he in community. Sobriety usually isn't successful alone. Talk to someone new, ask for help.
This was a good start for me. Don't try to do too much, one step at a time. Most New Years Resolutions fail because people do too much and it's overwhelming.
Beating addiction is finding what works for you. Have you tried reaching out to a support group, a sponsor, meeting or even just someone whoās been there? One step, one hour, one choice at a time. You got this.
If youāre a drunk I suggest detox, daily AA meetings, sponsor, 12 steps and service.
Keep it simpleš
Make reachable goals and make a plan on how to achieve them with dates
For me, detox was always the time that broke me. If you can muscle your way through that, start making changes to any routines that your mind may associate with the thing youāre trying to get away from. I had to change up my routine & drove away a lot of āfriendsā that didnāt want to change things up with me. Donāt feel like youāve lost if it doesnāt work. Failure can show us the way toward success & help focus in on the path thatāll work for youā¦
Imagine what a life without your DOC might look like and believe you can achieve it !
Get connected with a community
Where can I find zoom meetings?
Take care of yourself. Anything that is making you want to use should be addressed: pain, boredom, loneliness and maybe items on your agenda that you haven't gotten to.
Great advice!!!
Change your routine, for me , it was always 4 pm, so now @ that time I go for a walk. , by the time I get back , the urge has past & Iām onto other things
