Hey Angela, a dog is like a small child, some with the mentality of a 2 yo. It’s so important that you give them attention and exercise.
I’d start by taking him out for walks on a regular basis a few times a day.
Maybe a wkly hiking adventure and trips to the pet store and drive throughs for a pup cup.
This may also help you to release endorphins and get your mind of using. Being responsible for a pets life is just as important as if your child.
Stay strong!

I agree with Rick. Also socializing, find dog parks near by so your pup can run and play. There is also an app called BringFido you can download. Just put in your ZIP code or if you’re traveling where you’re going, and it will tell you all the dog friendly places in the area. I’m sure a quick google search will give you a list as well. My dogs would love just going on a simple car ride, even if it was just to go to Starbucks to get a pup cup. Good luck!

That's a good idea. Almost like a higher power. You can know you're being unselfish in doing better for your dog and let that be the reason you get blessed.

My dog is literally what got me out of bed most days when I was trying to get clean. Or even when I used. At first I said to myself "you can do whatever you want today but first take him on a walk and feed him." If all you do is lay in bed bc ur not ready yet, let him lay WITH you. Just being nearby or touching you means a whole lot to a dog!

Hey Dawn! If he is not able to walk maybe look into getting a small wagon and walk around pulling him. That way he can still enjoy being outside and taking part of what’s going on around him without putting anymore pain/pressure on his body.

Thank you I used to carry him in like a baby holster everything seems to be to much for him at times but the wagon might just be ok I could cushion it thank you so very much :hugs::dog:

Thank you giving them the love they need they are truly a blessing in my life I have been blessed they are always unconditional

No problem! Never tried the wagon myself, even as a senior mine was active and would never sit still. I did get a doggy car seat though which raised her up enough to lay down and look out the window. She loved her car rides more than anything!
