Anyone try ketamine infusions for depression? It's worked wonders for me.

There's also ongoing research into using it to help addictions.

Edit: This post was apparently flagged. I understand that the discussion of a medication that is often abused is sensitive, but this post is about a legitimate mental health treatment.

I have been considering it.

It was so worth it. Brought me out of a year long depressive episode, and has helped keep me going. Best thing I ever did for myself, after getting sober.

How many infusions before you felt better? Was it expensive

I started to feel better after the first one! It starts with an initial 6 infusions, every other day, and then after that it's booster infusions as needed. I have gone as long as every 3 months, and as short as 4 weeks...COVID time required more frequent boosters, but I'm increasing the time between them now.

It's not cheap; $495 for each infusion, and although some insurance companies cover it, mine doesn't. It is totally worth it to me.

That's awesome that it has worked so well for you. Yeah I don't have insurance. I think I'm gonna save up for it though. Thanks for sharing your experience. I was hoping to actually hear from someone who really had the infusions. I tend to be leary of online reviews lol

If you have any other questions about it, feel free to ask!

I am so glad for this post I may have to ask someone about it. Do you go to a doctor? If you can please send more info

It was recommended by my psychiatrist. The clinic I go to prefers, but does not require, patients to be seeing a psychiatrist.

Wow!! TY for sharing your experience. That’s so amazing that you noticed a difference so quickly. I feel like the length of time and effort required to be able to tell if most depression/mental health medications & therapies are going to help is such a deterrent. It’s difficult to push myself when I’m not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. It does seem like it could be a game changer.

You're so right about antidepressants! And the effectiveness of SSRIs is somewhere like 25-35%, whereas studies have shown ketamine infusions to be 75% effective or more!

Not everyone sees an effect immediately, but most people do during the initial 6 infusions.
