Anyone wanting to share what led them to sobriety. What was going on and how it made you feel and behave.
Looking for someone to talk to.
Looking for someone to talk to. It's so hard to know what to do. When I don't do what I want to do in trying to be sober, I often think of self harm. As in Punishment. Odd?
I was homeless. My drinking and using got to a point where I didn't care about rent and started trading my belongings for a bag. Was sleeping in bushes for about 4 months before I asked my parents for help.
I drove 2 1/2 hours, armed with my kids in the car. I sobered up as I pulled into the drive and realized what I had done. Looking back now I knew for a long time I needed help, but my screwed up brain wouldn’t let me go.
DWI and they made carry around a breath alizer. I was still hanging out with everyone and could see what idiots they were when drank. I thought I don't want to act like that
Father Passed, Divorced, Job Lost, Homeless, No Money. And still managed to go out and drink. Got hit by a car, walking home and broke my spine and left leg. Finally, unable to physically move, I slowed down enough to see alcohol mattered to more than my own life. And it was time to change that.
Hi Nancy, I’m not a professional in these matters but I strongly believe we should never harm ourselves…we’ve been doing that in active addiction for a long time. Reach out to a health professional…they can guide you to someone who knows about this from experience.
Hit rock bottom again and the wife finally had enough. Been separated for 3 months. Living in a sober house now and doing all the right things... Treatment, AA, sponsor, gym, job etc... Finally surrendered.
I lost my tribe.

I started using at age 8 by the time I was 12 I was drinking and doing drugs everyday.
I finally got sober at age 26. I was sick and tried if being sick and tired. I had 3 DWI's. Even with 3 of those I still used for 5 years after my last one. I wasn't married yet mo kids either. I wanted to get married and have kids. That was a reason to sober up to. Reach out if I can help

Growing in my faith
I've wasted so many years and so much money being drunk and I have nothing to show for it but bad situations/decisions
I want/deserve more out of life
Being drunk isn't a good time anymore.
Desperation led me to freedom from active addiction. After 38 yrs of not willing to trust Anyone especially God led me to a desperation to take a risk and trust the plan of recovery and plan of action laid out in the Bog Book by Bill and Bob Wilson. God Bless them for their work
