Around 5 months for some reason my alcoholic brain starts

Around 5 months for some reason my alcoholic brain starts speaking up… I’m aware this Will happen. I am most definitely in a better place now than I ever have been but still interested in any tips you all have used.

The tip I found interesting is to replace the alcohol with cold seltzer water when you have cravings . I am going to try that one.

Happy Sunday Rebecca! I believe having “awareness” today is a blessing. In the past I either ignored it, or just didn’t have it. It’s like a warning indicator on your car that your engine is running hot, or that your fuel is running low. Be grateful for this awareness today, and make a decision to take proper action. Once again, be grateful that you do have a choice today. You’ve taken the first step by talking about it. Now it’s just some fear running around in your head growing stronger and stronger. You have the experience of past relapses that you can now use to help you take a different path at this 5 month fork in the road. We often speak of not learning from a our relapses. Now is that time for you! I know what that would like for me. I’m a fan of AA, so that would include more meetings, talking to my sponsor and friends in AA, looking at steps 1, 2, and 3 again, and do my daily routine of prayer and meditation. Whatever it is you have done to get you threw the first months, go back to doing those same things again. Sometimes we need to go back (a little) in order to go forward. You can do this :peace_symbol:

Lol, yes- that one works for me. Been making sure my frig is stocked.

I go through this same thing and it may be an area where you are feeling complacent and forgetting about the pain or you have some internal belief that you don't deserve to go longer in sobriety. Its a thought and the thought is never a good idea to act on.
