Anyone here in the music scene or working in restaurants? I’m in a band and a lot, most, of our gigs are at bars and restaurants with drunk people and booze everywhere. Did you quit? Do you still surround yourself with this scene? I don’t want to quit my band but I need to figure out how to be around all of it without caving.

That's a tough one but there are a lot of famous sober musicians like Eddie Vedder. Maybe see if you can find something online about how they dealt with it? Best of luck.

If you realize that the booze isn't really doing what they want it to but they just think it is due to years of social programming it can be an eye opener, and you'll not have any cravings because that stuff has no actual benefit for you. You can be free and keep the band for sure.

I work around bars a lot and have no issues or cravings. At first, I avoided sitting at the bar or sticking around. Once I realized, I don't even want to drink it got easier to be there... I have over 8 years sober..

Check out this lead by Jack G, the singer of the punk band TSOL. It's great. I have his book Principles of Recovery as well as American Demon, both great reads.
