Assessment for IOP

So I just had my assessment for IOP (intensive outpatient therapy ) for my drinking! I got approved to go to the program. I’m super nervous because this is the first time I admitted I need help. The program is going to be tough and I will get random UA’s and breathalyzers.

Our ego’s get in the way of us asking for help. Be proud of taking the proper steps to take care of yourself. Getting approved for IOP is a big step in the right direction!

That’s a huge step. I’ve been there. Put your best work into that program. It’ll pay off, I promise.

Whatever your reason for wanting to not drink, just keep that fresh in your mind and take advantage of the opportunities provided to take the time to heal whatever wounds/issues led you to drink in the first place. Much blessings to you :metal:

Asking for help is the first step to Recovery, along with abstinence, of course. Congratulations Clover!

Sobriety is a lot of little things done right and it sounds like you are starting a healthy pattern of living.

Congrats Clover :four_leaf_clover:
This is great news! I too checked myself into IOP about 41 months ago. Even though this was my second time doing it, it was the first time being completely honest with myself and the doctors. My advice is to be completely transparent and honest and participate in all of the activities.

Now for me, IOP wasn’t enough. I had to go to a residential treatment as well. 30 days. But what really helped was this man who came to the residential every Sunday evening and read the big book of Alcoholics Anonymous to the group. I was in tears 90% of the time. He would explain as he read, told us what to highlight, what to underline, and what to write in the margins. This is where I completely fell in love with AA.

I pray to You, God, that Clover will have the necessary spiritual experience to stay sober and to help others achieve sobriety, amen
