Attended first meeting in about 2 years

I’ve decided to give the A.A program another shot and today I attended my first meeting in about two years; this time willingly and through my own initiative. I’ve known for a long time that this day would come because quitting anything cold turkey is bound for failure. I know that I need guidance, a support system, a set of principles to adhere to if there is any chance of my sobriety to succeed. I downloaded the “Meeting Guide” app on my phone as a tool to explore different meetings, both in-person and online, and eventually find my home base. I have hope that I will find a sponsor that I can relate with and open freely up to. There is nothing in this world that I want more than to lead a peaceful, joyous and prosperous life. I’ve grieved for so long and taken a tremendous amount of losses. Mostly due to my drinking disorder and all of it ugly side effects… I’m simply ready to pivot and start loving my life again.

Truly amazing when you work it. It’s well worth fighting for. I can say that I’m a little over 4 years clean n sober so today I get to reach out to people and tell them You deserve to be happy joyous and free from addiction!! Happy Friday work a program, get numbers and reach out to us all on here. Take Care and know you are loved :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Cindy

I recently started AA myself after going without any kind of recovery group for a long time too. It was kind of awkward at first but has gotten better. Hope your experience with it goes well.

I go every one or two years. It's perfectly fine.
