I adopted a gratitude practice many years ago after being in a very dark space. The first day was really, REALLY hard. As I lay there trying to fall asleep, I struggled to find one thing. It wasn’t that the blessings weren’t there, it’s that I was so blinded by my own anguish and resentments that I couldn’t see the forest for the trees. Now I fall asleep before I can even finish my list, and I’m excited to apply this to my newfound sobriety. Thanks for being here.

I have been working on being grateful but it has been hard and I couldn’t figure out why. What you said “blinded by my own anguish and resentments”, that hit me. It’s so hard to see the good when all I see and feel is darkness.
Thank you for sharing.
