Basically, long story short I got arrested and received 2 felony drug charges…Because it was my first Offence, I qualified for PTI program that includes random and regular drug tests. I knew I would face numerous years of drug tests so I am now proud to say I haven’t touched any drugs in 6 months!!
Anyways, although it was a drug charge I am also being tested for alcohol which caused my to very abruptly quit drinking… although I have the urge to drink, I’m aware of the consequences and potential jail time at risk so drinking is simply not an option for me
The problem is, because I’m only 24 I feel that I have lost a huge part of my social life. I recently moved towns the same week the drug tested began and while I’m trying to meet new people and put myself out there, it seems as if everyone always gravitates towards drinking.
I feel very isolated and alone.
I’ve been able to convince my closest hometown friends to do “dry January” with me where no one drinks all month long and I’m so excited and thankful to be able to have my best friends on this even-playing-field with me but I already can’t help but worry about the loneliness returning the next months…
I’ve always thought being sober is so cool, and I’m not ashamed of my new life style at all! It’s just alot of change all at once and I want to start this journey on the right foot
Having said all this, I don’t have any sober support system or friends. I could use a lot of advice on how to maintain my mental health in order to minimize the FOMO. Any tips for socializing, or inspiration for new hobbies, or really just anything that’ll help me not feel so isolated and lonely would be greatly appreciated!!
