Back to day 1 after relapsing this weekend. Just could use some words of encouragement... feeling pretty low but hopeful.
Forgive yourself but never forget the diseases strength, but your stronger
It happens. It happened to me multiple times in my early 20’s. Thought I finally “got it” at 24. However, relapsed again after 25 years of sobriety. Getting my life back together again, and grateful for another chance. Each relapse has taught me some very important lessons. The first few bought me to my knees and made me willing to finally follow a program of recovery. This last one taught me that the disease doesn’t just go away, and a daily program of recovery should continue ODAAT. I strongly recommend you get involved and connected with a program of recovery. Relapses can be the start of something beautiful. Make the choice of sobriety today, and through out the day today.
I don’t know how much you drank - or how long you were sober - but when I was a blackout drunk most nights - taking 1 or 2 nights off? Was a victory. When I went a week with just one night of hard drinking ? Progress. A month off with 1 failure night? Failure or success? I’d say 30 clean nights? A success, it’s not how many times you fall - it’s how many times you get up.
But keep moving forward, remember how good you felt/ slept /exercised, thought - in that month.
