Feeling shame about relapse and how my use has held me back professionally. Having intrusive thoughts and feeling tired of the daily struggle right now. But I hit a meeting today and am grateful for community.
I like to say that I found that shame was the least useful tool that I had available to me has an addict in Recovery.
I feel as though it's healthy to be aware of the decisions we made.
I think a key to the quality of my recovery is to not let this 'awareness' make me subjective to my bad decision.
Please, don't let this define your ability to stand up and walk away from the choice and right back in to striding, then thriving in Recovery?
Wishing you a great day 1. We are glad to have you back.
Keep coming back… it works
My addiction cost me jobs, cost me friendships, cost me a ton of things I was shameful for. The daily struggles will be there wether you drink or not. It’s having the clear mind and ability to face them that makes the difference. Stay the course. Relapse happens, think of it as a new perspective on what doesn’t work to stay sober. Keep hitting meetings, working a truthful program. It will get better.
We’re all on day one really, any one of us could relapse over the smallest thing if we aren’t diligent with our sobriety, just remember your not alone! We’re all on that same road. You’ve got this! Tackle day one and worry about the rest tomorrow.
I have had to rebuild my entire career, so I get this. Here for you.
It’s never to late to turn it around
It really doesn’t matter how many times you repeat your day one. The fact that you have the determination to start again is all that matters.
Congratulations on coming back to your best path.
I relapsed about two weeks ago and had to start over five days ago. I am here if you need somebody starting over to talk to. You got this. The fact you are on day 1 is a sign of hope.
Go go go go go go! Go-oooh! -In my Common voice-
Congratulations on 5 days.
There's no shame in having predictable brain chemistry. Don't beat yourself up.
Don’t beat yourself up! There’s no shame in relapse. Relapse can be and is a very important part of recovery! You are learning more about you. I’m very happy you are back! You know what to do!!
Thank you friend!
I'm proud of you, Angela! Keep your chin up. There are countless other addicts who will never know recovery and will die from their disease. God bless.
I have been where you are on more than one occasion. I read and re read the promises.
Glad you’re back! Remember, it doesn’t matter how many times we fall down, it’s all about how many times we get back up
Keep working
