That ok, get back up and keep on trucking. Falling down and getting back up is part of the trip.

thank you

If you say so. Do you even really believe you have an addiction? I know your young. Yet, I’ve seen a lot of young people get sober and remain so for the rest of their lives. Been at this awhile now. Have you tried getting plugged into a program for support on a daily basis? Eventually those back to’s are gonna run out. Just hope you don’t go down that full blown addiction rabbit hole and end up like me or those who have suffered everything to addiction. Good luck

um yes. I have questioned that many times as well. Yet alcoholism runs deep in my family. I used to drink everyday when i was 16-17 i stopped drinking everyday and going to work drunk & then just drank more throughout the week but not everyday. I then began to blackout every single time i drank. Every time i drink i can’t stop and it leads to me blacking out. I can’t just have one or two drinks I have to have more to the point where I don’t act like myself & can’t remember a thing.

And I have ruined countless relationships because of my drinking.I am very young and it is such a struggle for me but i 100 percent do know I have an addiction to alcohol.

Those are the signs of addiction for sure. Young people getting sober usually end up living awesome productive lives filled with blessings galore. You can be that miracle. Really hope you can come to terms with this new life you are striving for.

Thank you. I think i come to terms and i do very well for 83
days I was sober and then I thought i could handle a drink but i was wrong again. I definitely need to accept the fact that I cannot drink whatsoever but I in reality i don’t want to. And that’s the battle i’m having right now with myself and this addiction. I hope to stay on the sober path this time.

Have you tried meetings? Finding a power greater than you to have your back when struggling? Even acting as if has a way of rubbing off after awhile

Hey elianna! Welcome back! I’m glad you made it! So, acknowledging you have a problem and getting help is a huge step in recovery. Sounds like you got this part down. Now the issue is how do you maintain continuous sobriety. I say continuous because sometimes these relapses are really destructive and painful. As you get older, the consequences to your mental, physical, and family life get worse and worse. It really does get worse, so let’s pray you don’t go down this path. “Staying” sober is what most of us are really looking for. Quitting is easy. Staying quit…not so much. I got sober at 24. While I loved the changes, I felt so out of sorts in this world. I got really lonely. Even though I got married, had kids, had a good career…I was so darn lonely. I just didn’t connect with any support groups. There was no internet so it was just AA. I tried it. I actually liked it. However, I didn’t really get a sponsor, do the steps, or make real friends. I eventually stopped going. I stayed sober a lot of years (30 years), but as I said…I wasn’t truly happy. Eventually I needed to escape reality and started drinking/drugging again. This time it’s different. At my age it’s definitely easier to connect to the old krusty guys in AA…bc I’m one of them lol. But my message to you is the secret to staying sober is building a support group and finding a spiritual program that you practice on a daily basis. Getting sober by yourself really stinks! I know it’s more difficult to find sober people at your age, but they are out there. Use the internet and these apps to find them. Try different meetings. You can do this.:peace_symbol:

Hi! If you don't mind me asking; how did you stay clean and sober for 30 years....I really LOVE hearing from those that have been in recovery awhile, you guys are really such an inspiration to me!! Now...I only have 10 days, by the grace of God- clean from Crystal Meth...no drinking....but I'm really feeling the aftereffects, their not pretty...if you can remember, how did you get through those first ten days and not pick up??thank you!

Perfectly normal. And guilting yourself over it can lead to using.. so don’t guilt yourself over it.. know it’s part of the process
