Back to day one…my struggle is real but I know sobriety is what I want so I won’t stop trying 🥹
What are you going to do different this time?
Put space between me and the people that I use with
That’s a good start but how are you going to change your patterns and get help for your addiction??? It’s not our using friends that made us use. Nobody ever forced me to use., when I got honest with myself I finally could make a plan for recovery. I’m over three years sober and live a completely substance free and reasonably happy life
It’s ok to slip, as long as you don’t slide. I can’t count the number of times I’ve started over. One day at a time
Well I start a relapse prevention group tomorrow and I am dropping ua’s three times a week
Great!!! Good job taking that step
Just get back on that horse. Try to surround yourself with multiple different tools to help you!
You can get and stay sober with that attitude

. Keep up the good work
What helped me immensely was a 90&90, and in those days had to physically go to meetings and weren’t nearly as many. Now with Zoom meetings anyone can get to a meeting every hour on the hour, worldwide. I’ve been to zoom meetings Cape Town South Africa and Australia. With different time zones anyone can truly get to a meeting at any hour of the day. My suggestion is a 90&90, it saved my life when I was kicked out of treatment facility, guy who gave me ride home said if I did that and stuck close to AA I’d make it and gratefully I have. One day at a time.
Yesss love the resilience I’m feeling from this post. Don’t stop trying.
A lot of space!
That was exactly my thoughts
Do you know why you keep relapsing Emily?
Because you keep on believing the big lie; Alcohol tells us that this time, everything will be OK. But it never is, is it?
We need to learn to play the scene forward. What happens if you pick up a drink? You may feel some relief for a very short time period of time. But when it's over you will be right back where you are right now, carrying around more guilt like you are now, realizing that you accomplished absolutely nothing.
It says in one of your comments that you are going to put space between you and your friends that drink/use with you.
The only thing we have to change when we get sober is everything. If you start going to AA meetings and you turn your life around you will find out those people were not truly your friends anyway.
I don't even know anybody that I used to hang with when I was drinking. And the people that I did hang around with, the only time I really saw them is when I was drinking. Those kind of friends can never be relied on for much of anything else.
Of course for me, in the end nobody really wanted to hang out with me.
I totally agree Brian. Emily nothing changes if nothing changes. When you get truly sick and tired you will go to any lengths to get sober. I’m 3 years sober and my whole world has changed because of AA sponsorship and meetings. God is first and foremost in my life.
I’ve restarted so many times. I work in the restaurant life so it’s very easy to slip with the whole “I’ll just have one bc work was stressful”. We can do it
LOL
We all buy into that one regardless of where we work.
Just one???
You had just one???
You made me laugh.
