I decided to start my sober journey a little over a week ago. Over the past weekend (Wed - Sun) I had a commitment that I HAD to follow through on (it's an annual thing). So I was in a different space, on a different schedule, doing different activities. I feel like this made it somewhat easier to stay away from my habitual, ritual of drinking.
Today, back at work, on my usual schedule. It was actually tougher than the past 9 days, it would have been easy to stick with the old afterwork ritual of heading to the liquor store, heading home and settling down to drink myself to bedtime.
I didn't do it, but sure felt the cravings(?), or maybe just my brain looking for the old rituals.
