Bad Blackout - Any day 1 motivation? I need help

I busted my foot open and also fell face first on my hard floor during a blackout. I need help.
Any advice would help please.

The most days that I have ever had Sober during my addiction has been 17 days, and that was about half a year ago.
I know I can do this.

But any extra words, quotes, and advice would be helpful

I started with talking to my primary Dr. He provided me contacts for treatment. They did an evaluation with me and developed a recovery plan.

Quote from Joan Baez: “You don’t get to choose how you’re going to die. Or when. You can only decide how you’re going to live. Now.”
Surround yourself with loving people and supports. Take steps to get back on track. Allow more support if you have been hesitant to do this. Feel better. You deserve it!

You said the 3 hardest words I have ever spoken
-I need help. I would work some sort of program. I could've never done it on my own. Reach out to people & talk. You're doing the right thing just by being honest & posting this is a huge step. Best wish to you along your journey.

I've had some faceplants too. They're all things to learn from, and asking for help means you are on the right track.

I'm sorry that happened. I fell into a brick wall a year ago and had stitches on my face just 2 weeks before my wedding. I was lucky it wasn't worse. I still cycle through times of drinking lately. I'm also trying to get another day one. You did 17 days and you can get more days for sure.

Journal. It has helped me, sometimes there is no one around to talk but yourself. It might feel dumb at first, but after a while, it becomes an outlet. It releases you from those feelings and thoughts that no one can understand but you. Then you can go back and read them with fresh eyes and you can see the things that you can't when you are not yourself. Godspeed.

You can do this and wish you a speedy recovery

Recovery is the greatest journey you will ever be on. Life gets so much better. And even in our hard times, we learn how to deal with them, and wade through our feelings by actually FEELING them. It’s a true privilege, most people never realize they need help. I’m proud of you for taking that first step. :black_heart:

Yes you can do this. If you have hope and your willing. Today (meaning the morning you read this) is all that should matter to you. The past is where it is, dwelling on that will just bring depression and you have to give yourself a pass for today to not dwell. Just a pass for today. You break the day down if needed and as you move through the moments of the day you just aren’t gonna use now, today. Don’t worry about tomorrow. That brings anxiety. You give yourself a pass for that as well. You don’t know about tomorrow. Your goal is today. Today your not gonna have that first drink or in my case today I’m not gonna take that pill or call my dealer. Today I’m gonna do something aimed at recovery. AA is never ever a bad start. Read about it. Talk to people in recovery you know about it. Call multiple people If you can. Do not get the wrong idea about AA. Alcohol encompasses it all. Drinking, opiates, narcotics, meth…. If you did it AA can help. Also don’t get thrown off by the discussion of god. In AA god is whatever you want it to be. It can be God, the energy of the rooms, Mother Nature…. Anything. Think about recovery the best you can. Take it easy. Keep it simple. If however you need medical assistance to stop you should get it! Today is just about today. Right now. Right now today I’m giving myself a pass from being a junky, selfish, hurt, alcoholic who just wants to throw myself a pity party. That pass is just for today. May sound repetitive and under exaggerated but don’t complicate it. Today we are doing this together. Today I love you for everything that brought you here and I love you for being here. Your not alone. Reach out when you need help! Even call me If needed 917-696-5562. I’m Tom and im an alcoholic and addict. It’s nice to meet you.

Baby your poor foot :sob::sob::sob: my goodness. What works for me might not work for you so my best advice is to make the commitment to keep trying every time you fail. Slip up, get back on track. Do it 1000 times if you have to, just don't let the people who love you see you get hurt worse than this. Then pretend you're someone who loves you and drink some water, get some rest. Your body needs to heal right now

Get connected with an AA group.

I started with detox

You can do this especially since you had 17 days before. Blackouts can be very dangerous. Reach out to AA and go to meetings every day. This is paramount for your recovery but you have to want it.

When I hit bottom in active addiction, I went to a 12 Step meeting and started asking for help. I learned that I didn't have to use no matter what. That was 5 years, 5 months and 28 days ago.

First thing first don't beat yourself up over what happened. It's water under the bridge now.

Take it second by second if an entire day of remaining sober feels too overwhelming.

Those seconds will become minutes, minutes will be hours. You get my point.

Play the tape forward and remember how you sh-try you feel after a blackout.

Look at this photo which you have shared with us and realize that you are deserving of a far better life than one which is about self-sabotage and harm to yourself.

You are worth far more than that. And yes.
Get to a meeting and if AA meetings are not for you-there are other alternatives like SMART and / or Refuge Recovery.
Keep yourself busy.

Write down a list of the many distractions and things to do besides drinking…then do those things.

The list of alternatives to drinking and hurting your own self are endless. Wishing you the best.
Please keep us posted on how you are doing.:pray:t4:

Eat ice cream. Meditate.
