I’m not sure I’ve ever had a sober bday as an adult. I have friends coming in town already talking about getting drunk and having fun. These friends know I’ve been sober before and won’t pressure me or anything but I’m not going to stop THEM from drinking. I can’t say that I won’t want to drink, because I absolutely will want to.
What are you doing for your birthday
We’re going to a comedy show the day before and then no idea for my actual bday. I live in Vegas so we were just going to go with the flow of things
I would highly recommend limiting your exposure to alcohol. I have had 2 sober birthdays, but both of which I was surrounded by sober friends. It was dangerous for me to be around drinking before I had gone through the 12 steps of AA. I had to steer clear of wet people, places, and things early on. What I would ask, are what are your motives? Are you simply going to celebrate your birthday with friends or are you hoping to steal a little vicarious pleasure from them drinking around you. I had to pray daily for God to remove the obsession to drink. God comes to all those who earnestly seek Him. Happy birthday, just don't pick up that first drink no matter what! Make sure to tell your friends why you aren't drinking, and if they try to hand you a drink, that would be my cue to exit. Good luck, and Happy birthday!

You can change your mind about that. The only reason we drink is because we think there's some benefit to it. But... It's just a highly addictive poison that is marketed very well; You'll have a better time of you realize that you don't really want to sit around and destroy your ability to function for a few hours.
