Been 2 months sober now! Some days it feels like 1 day and others feel like it’s been years🤷♂️
I was always afraid that if I didn’t drink than I wouldn’t have fun. And let’s be honest, things aren’t as “fun” in the moment all the time. But day to day life is substantially better. I do know how to laugh and have a good time with my family and friends. Funny last weekend my wife and I went out with friends to celebrate her birthday, and the only thing I heard about not drinking was how weird it was to have me drive!!! Now that my friends have seen me drive I don’t think they’ll ride with me again😂. Let’s just say that I’m a safe and enthusiastic driver. It was a nice change to be the sober driver for everyone that night.
My heart rate has dropped significantly since I stopped drinking. My blood pressure has dropped back to the good zone. I’ve lost (yeah”lost”) 14lbs. Im 3 inches slimmer in the waist. I’ve definitely lost more than just 14lbs though. Im regularly lifting weights and have more muscle mass than I remember having since I was 20. Mental clarity is off the charts, and I no longer think that Im bipolar. I was just a highly adjusted drunk(and didn’t know it).
If you read this far thanks, hope this inspires you. Im not “bragging”, this is more for me to document for myself with the hopes that others might find it useful. Especially if just getting started on the sober journey like me. 2 months and 1 day!!!
