Been drinking heavily for the past year due to depression

Been drinking heavily for the past year due to depression from a harsh divorce. I know it’s time to stop. Tomorrow WILL be my first day of sobriety (I hope) I’d like to make some friends on here for support.

Congratulations my friend!

Even the toughest of challenges are MUCH easier to handle when we aren’t drunk, hungover, hanging with our “scary me”, and/or not remembering half of the things we said and did. Be proud of yourself, take time every morning to be thankful for something, and join a great AA group. You are going to be blown away by what your life looks and feels like a month from now.

Way to go making that decision to make the next right choice. That is awesome! It is a big choice but I know you can tackle this! Make sober friends here and irl. Find meetings. But take everything one step at a time so you don’t get overwhelmed! When I first got sober I took it one second at a time sometimes. It will get you where you need to go!

Welcome brother. Great job on joining. If you need anything don’t be afraid to reach out. Here’s to you and many better days and tomorrows.

You are so right!
